Application selection guide

Label materials for tyre / tire labels

Point-of-sale and logistics labels on tyre tread. Start with the actual package and use conditions.

Start with the rubber and label position.

01

Tread label

Tread grooves reduce the available contact area. Use the actual tyre pattern and label size when checking edge hold and conformability.

02

Sidewall label

Identify the surface texture, curvature and any mould-release residue. A construction that works on tread should not be assumed to work on the sidewall.

03

Removal at sale or installation

Specify the required holding period and removal conditions. Check both adhesion during handling and adhesive transfer or staining after removal.

What to look for in a sample trial

Label lifts from grooves

Check: Contact area, facestock stiffness, adhesive and application pressure.

Try: Compare hold on representative tyre patterns after the agreed storage and handling period.

Residue or staining remains

Check: Rubber compound, adhesive interaction and time in contact.

Try: Remove aged samples and inspect both the tyre surface and label backing.

Printed code is damaged

Check: Rubbing against adjacent tyres, print protection and code placement.

Try: Reproduce the intended stacking and handling, then check readability.

No tyre-specific RT grade is listed here yet. Do not substitute a general-purpose paper or film grade solely because its face material looks similar.
