UV inkjet label materials

Choose a UV inkjet construction by the face and finish you need, then test it with the actual press, ink and curing setup. The RT range records paper, PP, PE and PET options. A UV-series listing identifies the intended print route; it is not approval for every UV printer.

White, clear and metallic faces need different artwork checks

Put the intended design on the shortlisted face. On a clear face, evaluate the container background and any white ink. On a metallic face, check the printed colour and legibility under the intended light. Keep these appearance decisions separate from ink anchorage and the label's attachment to the pack.

  • Send the press model, ink series and relevant artwork features.
  • Include varnish, laminate or other finishing in the trial.
  • Record the treatment and curing settings used for the sample.

Do not collapse transparent PP options into one construction

One documented option uses acrylic emulsion adhesive and white glassine; another uses solvent-based adhesive and a transparent PET release film. Both have a 50 µm transparent PP face, but the full construction differs. Ask the converting team to evaluate handling and release for the chosen option.

  • Compare ink anchorage after the agreed curing stage.
  • Inspect matrix removal and the liner after die-cutting.
  • Apply the finished printed label to the real container.
